Who We Are
Unbreak Finance is a fintech startup based in Los Angeles, founded by David Sheehan in 2024.
Previously, David had spent nearly 10 years as a data scientist in the consumer credit industry. He had noticed that banks and personal finance companies were collecting increasing amounts of customer data, but this didn't translate to meaningful improvements in their financial lives.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help individuals achieve financial freedom through highly personalized financial tools and educational empowerment.
Banks and lenders make money when you pay more interest and fees. Other personal finance companies make money when you take out more credit products. It is better for their bottom line if their customers remain trapped in debt. This broken system has led to the current crisis, where tens of millions of Americans have no savings, fearful of the next emergency or illness and generally unable to plan for their future.
We want to unbreak finance by letting individuals take back control of their financial lives.
The people
Our team
David Sheehan
Founder & CEODavid has an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from University College Cork in Ireland and a PhD in nueroscience from University College London. After his studies, he worked at MoneySupermarket in London, where he was lead data scientist for the MoneySavingExpert brand. This job started his passion in consumer finance, especially in the potential for data and technological innovation to improve people's finanacial lives
After moving to the United States 6 years ago, he spent 5 years at Zest AI, a Los Angeles based fintech startup that builds modern powerful risk models for banks and credit unions. In his role as Lead Data Scientst, he developed a deep knowledge of consumer credit industry and how it has failed to serve the interests of everyday Americans.
